Clinton, NY (01/04/2022) — Cornwall-on-Hudson resident and Hamilton College junior Jacquelin (Jackie) Prunier has been awarded a Coccia Foundation Scholarship for study in Italy for the spring 2022 semester. Prunier, a Hispanic studies major, will participate in Middlebury College's program in Florence.

Prunier, who studied in Spain through Hamilton's Academic Year in Spain (HCAYS) for the fall 2021 semester, said "I am most looking forward to living with an Italian host family. I (stayed) with a Spanish host family through (HCAYS) and the experience (was) nothing short of amazing.

"My host family (was) kind and accommodating with me as I transitioned to life in Madrid and I've noticed my Spanish has improved drastically so I cannot wait to have the opportunity to live with a family in Florence," said Prunier.

The Coccia Foundation was established in 1994 by Cavaliere Joseph Coccia, Jr., and his wife Elda. The organization is dedicated to the preservation and celebration of Italian culture, with a particular emphasis on promoting the rich Italian cultural heritage among younger generations at the college level.

Prunier is a graduate of Cornwall Central High School
